Twilight Beach Walk

by Samuel Silverstein

Artwork by Emily Yue

I.

perhaps, collectively, all the musical notes

world-wide sound like a wave

a sshh, an earthen

whisper that harshens

and relieves and harshens

II.

from shore, the always wind

will blow against your eyes and

the clouds always will

pedal backwards above you

III.

things can be seen as stacked:

dimming blue on gurgling grey on sand,

a contrast of textures

IV.

a child’s silhouette is almost

too abstract against the foaming and stars

V.

the thin wet world crumbles behind my heels
